Motorsport keeps fans on the other side of the fence. We don’t. Pick a driver climbing the ladder and you’re inside the team for the whole season — the telemetry, the onboards, the debriefs, the group chat, and your name printed on the car. Monthly, and cancel whenever.
The fence
Motorsport is the most gate-kept sport there is. The paddock is for sponsors. The garage is for family. The data is for engineers. You get a grandstand seat, a replica cap and a television feed — and that is the ceiling, however much you love it and however long you have loved it.

What you get
Three levels of access, from the supporters-only feed to a seat in the garage. Every driver sets their own, and backing is monthly and cancellable at any level. We haven’t settled what each one costs yet — that gets published before launch.

The real reason
Somewhere on this grid is a seventeen-year-old who ends up in a works seat. Most fans will discover them on a streaming series in six years’ time. You’ll have had their debrief from the weekend they nearly binned it in turn six — and your name will have been on that car since round one.
Every fan can name a champion. Almost nobody can say they were backing them at seventeen, in the rain, at a circuit no broadcaster has heard of. That is the story you actually get to tell.
Your name goes on the bodywork from the first race you back, not once they are worth being seen with. The photos are dated. So is your receipt.
The first 500 keep founding status for good: the locked price, the badge on your profile, and first pick of the grid before anyone else sees it.

Why now
A generation raised on Drive to Survive learned to care about the person, the struggle and the garage — not just the lap time. The same people fund streamers, creators and fractional racehorses. Nobody has yet pointed that instinct at the thousands of real drivers one budget short of the grid.
Straight answers
We haven’t set the prices yet, and we’d rather say that than publish a number we have to walk back. What is already decided: it is a monthly subscription you can cancel whenever you like, not a pledge or a commitment for the season, and every driver sets their own levels. Founding supporters get their price locked at whatever we publish.

Then you get the interesting half of the story. Motorsport is mostly things going wrong, expensively, in front of people — that is the part fans never normally see, and the part drivers are contractually cheerful about at the top level. Ours are not.
Yes, and most people probably will — one you found first, one from your part of the world, one in a series you love. Each is its own subscription.
No. You’re buying access, content and a place inside a season — and the driver has to deliver it. Every backing is monthly and cancellable, so if the debriefs stop, you stop. That accountability is the entire product.
Not at launch. GridBacker v1 is rewards and access only — deliberately. Anything resembling a return on investment is a regulated financial product, and we’d rather ship something real than something that gets us shut down. Fractional seat ownership is on the roadmap and will only ever launch properly regulated.
Four things: a verified competition licence and series entry before a profile goes live, a published line-by-line season budget, funds released against the actual race calendar rather than in one lump, and supporters who can cancel the moment the reporting stops.
Carefully. Under-18 profiles run through a verified parent or guardian, payouts go to the guardian, and any perk involving direct contact or in-person access is chaperoned and consented to in writing. We’d rather lose a feature than get this wrong.
A single flat percentage of what’s raised, plus payment processing. No listing fee, no monthly cost to racers, no cut of a driver’s own sponsors that they brought themselves. We’ll publish the exact number before launch and it won’t move afterwards.
